The FAA regulates the National Air Space (NAS) and has very specific rules when flying drones near public airports. For our large drones( 55 lbs and greated) we must go through an FAA approval process that can take up to two weeks to get authorization to fly near public airports. For our small drones we can typically get instant access to most airspace near public airports instantly, but in cases where the fields are directly adjacent to an airport in controlled airspace the time can be 14 days or more.
We check airspace as we quote your application. If portions of your fields are with boundaries of a public airport we will add an additional $100 administrative filing fee and must wait until authorization of access is approved(COA).
Most controlled airspace near larger airports can be instantly accessed for flights, in which no fee is incurred. For applications where locate in Zero Height zones will be charged and additional administrive file fee and will be subject to the wait time until authorization is given(COA).
